I’m Crystal Nevin, and I am a trained developmental editor, copyeditor, and proofreader. I also have the lifelong pleasure of being called a grammar nerd and making my husband nervous about sending me text messages because he knows I’m privately criticizing his spelling. I’ve always enjoyed reading. I was the kid who brought a book with me everywhere I went. With editing and proofreading, I love to put my knowledge and skills to use helping authors make their writing more perfect.
I relish helping authors strengthen their writing. It’s a wonderful feeling when an author has a breakthrough and makes his or her writing better. It feels very much like I’ve been a supportive teammate who helped the star player improve. I really enjoy that collaboration with authors–ensuring the writer’s story stays true and in his or her own voice while strengthening the writing and eliminating errors.
What do I do when I’m not editing or proofreading? I’m also a Certified Public Accountant (being detail-oriented works in the financial world too!), an avid reader and audiobook-listener, a fervent board gamer, and a big fan of Disney’s movies and theme parks. I’m also in process of learning German, have recently learned how to knit and crochet, and enjoy doing yoga and other exercise. Most importantly, I’ve been married to my soul mate since June 2001, and we love to travel the world and experience different cultures, especially via cruises. We live near Atlanta, Georgia, and we currently have two cats, though I really consider myself to be a dog person.
